Introduction.

This Privacy Notice details the type of personal data we may collect about you, how we’ll store and handle that data, and keep how we keep it safe.  Below there is a lot of detail but we want you to be fully informed about your rights and we hope the following sections will answer any questions you have.  If not, please feel free to get in touch with us.  However, the over-arching summary of everything contained below is simply this:

  • We use cookies on our website but only those that help the site to work better for the customer (you are free to manage this via your browser setting at any time.).
  • We use Google Analytics, however our code anomylises your IP address
  • The safety and security of your details is paramount to us and our SSL certificate protects & encrypts communication between your web browser and our website / server (you'll notice the padlock in the address bar).
  • Your name, address and telephone number is only ever used by us to be able to process your order and never given to any 3rd party (other than the courier to be able to deliver your order).
  • Your email address is only ever used by us to provide updates on the status of your order or to keep you informed with a newsletter (but only if you have opted in to receive them).  It is never passed onto a 3rd party to be used for their own marketing purposes.
  • We never store any of your payment details as when you purchase goods from us, you are taken through a secure gateway directly onto the site of the payment processor, and therefore no credit card details are even entered by you on our site.

The Detail.

The Legal Bases

The law on data protection sets out a number of different reasons for which a company may collect and process your personal data, including:

Consent

In certain situations, we can collect your data with your consent.

For example, if you select the option to receive newsletters from us.

Contractual obligations
We would need your personal data to comply with our contractual obligations.

For example, if you order an item from us for home delivery, we’ll collect your address details to deliver your purchase, and pass them to our courier.

Legal compliance
If the law requires us to, we may need to collect your data.

For example, we can pass on details of people involved in fraud or other criminal activity affecting the our website to law enforcement.

Legitimate interest

In specific situations, we require your data to pursue our legitimate interests in a way which might reasonably be expected as part of running our business and which does not materially impact your rights, freedom or interests.

For example, we will use your purchase history to send you or make available personalised offers.

The security of your information

The safety and security of your details is paramount to us and our SSL certificate protects & encrypts communication between your web browser and our website / server as you enter your data and what is collected is stored on secure servers.  This is evident to customers as when you land on our website you will notice a padlock displayed in the address bar of the browser.  When you purchase goods from us, you are taken through a secure gateway directly onto the site of the payment processor, therefore no credit card details are ever taken or stored by us.

If you create an account with us but don't place an order, your account will be deleted or anonymised after twelve months of inactivity.

If you make an account with us and place an order, your account will be deleted or anonymised after five years of inactivity from the date of your last order.

How and why do we use your personal data?

Here’s how we’ll use your personal data and why:

  • To process any orders that you make using our website. If we don’t collect your personal data during checkout, we won’t be able to process your order and comply with our legal obligations.

For example, your details may need to be passed to a third party to supply or deliver the product or service that you ordered, and we may keep your details for a reasonable period afterwards in order to fulfil any contractual obligations such as refunds, guarantees and so on.

  • To respond to your queries, refund requests and complaints. Handling the information you sent enables us to respond. We may also keep a record of these to inform any future communication with us and to demonstrate how we communicated with you throughout. We do this on the basis of our contractual obligations to you, our legal obligations and our legitimate interests in providing you with the best service and understanding how we can improve our service based on your experience.
  • To protect our business and your account from fraud and other illegal activities. This includes using your personal data to maintain, update and safeguard your account. We’ll also monitor your browsing activity with us to quickly identify and resolve any problems and protect the integrity of our websites. We’ll do all of this as part of our legitimate interest.
  • With your consent, we may use your personal data, preferences and details of your transactions to keep you informed by email, about relevant products, special offers, discounts or promotions.  Of course, you are free to opt out of hearing from us at any time just by unsubscribing from our newsletter if you have opted in to receive one.
  • To send you communications required by law for service messages.  For example, updates to this Privacy Notice and legally required information relating to your orders. These service messages will not include any promotional content and do not require prior consent when sent by email or text message. If we do not use your personal data for these purposes, we would be unable to comply with our legal obligations.
